Spin
Acer Spin computers are 2-in-1 convertible laptops, offering flexibility between laptop and tablet modes, often with touchscreen capabilities and stylus support, and available in various models like Spin 1, 3, and 5, catering to different needs and budgets. Although the RAM is not upgradeable the storage can be upgraded up to 2GB of SSD. Most Spin computers from the last 5 years have Thunderbolt ports. The latest Spin 3 has two Thunderbolt 4 ports which can be used for graphics, data or power. Any Thunderbolt 4 external SSD would be compatible.
The RAM was soldererd onto most Spin computers and so it was not upgradeable. You can go to Task Manager, Performance tab and select Memory from teh left hand column. If the type says LPDDR then the RAM is soldered and not upgradeable. These computers use their SSD to RAM cache, so it is important to have free storage space on your SSD.
Computers can experience a sudden drop in speed due to reduced storage space. Modern computers with small RAM optimise themselves by caching to the SSD. If your computer is low on space then the caching is reduced and you will notice a drop in speed. Make room on your SSD by deleting or moving files or upgrade your SSD.
